Burkhard von Freyberg interviewed by Bayerischer Rundfunk
What's next for the German hotel industry?
Can we hope for an Easter vacation in Bavaria?
Is a good summer enough to save hotels in Bavaria?
Will the tourists come back?
How will tourism change in the future?
“Any day that can't be opened is a bad day. We need [...] a perspective! ”
Prof. Dr. Burkhard von Freyberg states that the joy of traveling is greater than ever. The hotel industry hopes to open up soon and, above all, needs a perspective so that businesses can prepare themselves adequately. After resuming business, German hoteliers should focus on domestic tourism for the time being, as it is not yet foreseeable when international guests will be allowed to travel to Germany again. “Our industry is changing,” says von Freyberg — the global pandemic is bringing about lasting changes in travel behavior that will transform the accommodation market in the long term.
